More than a refresh, this was a top-down brand realignment; uniting all ministries and showing a clear focus on the future, while honouring the organisation’s history and heritage.

INTRO
Mater has long served Queenslanders through a wide range of care services, continually expanding its impact across health, research, education, and foundation.
TASK
Mater set out to clarify the role and value of its ministries within the broader organisation, calling for a refreshed brand strategy along with updated verbal and visual identities. The goal was to reframe and unify their diverse services under one purposeful identity: the ‘Mater Group’, while honouring the legacy that shaped them.
Beyond the bedside, reframing the Mater Brand
Since its beginning, Mater has proudly addressed unmet community needs through a range of expanding ministries. While these were well understood internally, the public largely saw Mater as a hospital provider alone. To raise awareness of its broader impact: across health, research, education, and its Foundation; Mater undertook a comprehensive brand review and redefinition.
A symbol of unity and legacy
A new Mater Group logo that honors its heritage and future. The stained glass cross, inspired by the Sisters of Mercy’s original windows, uses colours representing the group and its four ministries united.
